Best Job in the World: Swimsuit Model Reflector
 |
|
Regardless of whether you're shooting pics of a buddy with a trophy buck or a swimsuit model on the beach, the skills needed for great naturally-lit outdoor images are the same.
Lighting is everything, and to help you control it you need an inexpensive—yet very effective—collapsible reflector.
A reflector enables you to bounce sunlight into the dark/shaded areas of your subject. While you might never get lucky enough to be "Reflector Guy" on a bikini shoot, chances are good during 2012 that you'll be asked to shoot "grip and grin" pics of a friend with a well-earned whitetail.
Tip: A two-sided white/silver disc works best for most outdoor pics. Use the silver side for high contrast and maximum fill light; use white for a soft, even look. (Gold provides a warm sunrise/sunset feel.) Go with a 32-inch-diameter disc, which folds down to about 10 inches; it'll easily fit into your daypack.
Lights, camera ... now go kill something!
